Waxing Crescent Moon
If you find yourself in Hancock MD with nothing but a strollerful of camping gear, do not despair. Hancock is an excellent place to stroll.
For one thing, you can head out on the C&O Canal Towpath and look at old things. Like old locks and old lockhouses.
Or, you can buy a bike and ride the Western Maryland Rail Trail.
But if your fancy is to stroller-tour Main Street, visit the museum, or get a haircut, don’t go on Saturday afternoon. Everything’s closed.
Perhaps the most peculiar thing about Hancock is its location in the skinniest part of Maryland. This little wedgie piece of the state is 1.9 miles wide, stuck in between Pennsylvania and West Virginia, trying to keep them from hurting each other. Blessed are the peacemakers.
Way to go Hancockians. Yours is the kingdom of heaven.
Peace, Love, and Bike Paths,
